We are pleased to announce that we have reached the finals of the Scottish Design awards again this year!
Within one of the busiest categories for submissions, Private Residential project Lochside House has been shortlisted for the ‘Residential’ award, while our newly designed Renal Unit for Western General Hospital is in the running for ‘Health Building or Project’ category.
Lochside House is designed in response to the client’s desire for a home which reflects the natural surrounding environment and provides a simple, calming ambience. With a focus on the loch-side location, natural materials and palettes have been used to create a home which complements the challenging topography and geology of the site, while making the most of the views.
Western General Hospital Renal Unit also responds to a challenging location and is therefore dug into a slope, resulting a one-level entrance at one side, with two storeys to the rear. The design prioritises the patient experience, providing views to Edinburgh castle from the southern treatment rooms, and using a clerestory rooflight to provide natural lighting.
Now in its 25th year, the Scottish Design Awards celebrate the best in business across design and architecture in Scotland, and we are thrilled to be considered for these two categories.
The awards ceremony will take place on the 29th of June, and we can’t wait to attend alongside industry leaders!
