As part of the virtual AJ100 Festival, Karen Mosley featured alongside Marsha Ramroop from the RIBA and Katie Atkinson from Grimshaw Architects, to discuss the future of the workplace.
“As we all became flexible workers overnight, it suddenly became acceptable and doable. I think this one of the biggest things to reflect on.”
The panellists joined to discuss various themes around new ways of working following the pandemic.
Wider practice of flexible working took centre stage, with considerations around ‘getting rid of the guilt’ when working from home, psychological changes that individuals have been through and managing individual requirements all topics of discussion.
Karen commented, “As creatives, we spend our time looking for different creative solutions to things in our work, but not the way we work. This is a great opportunity for this change, and to keep embracing this change.”
Freedom to work in a place that suits every individual was recognised as key to wellbeing and performance, while also acknowledging that we are in a ‘live experiment’ regarding how the working world will look going forwards and must therefore continue to adapt.
