AJ is an associate, and key member of the Sheffield studio’s management team. With over 30 years’ post-qualification experience, he’s led major project teams across a wide range of sectors, including education, residential, leisure, health, regeneration, and hospitality. AJ brings a deep understanding of the architectural process – from concept to completion – and is known for his integrity, enthusiasm, and ability to inspire confidence in clients and colleagues alike. He works closely with HLM’s directors to drive innovation and business development, and enjoys contributing to the promotion of HLM’s culture and ethos.

AJ leads multidisciplinary teams on complex projects, managing everything from stakeholder engagement and design development to site delivery and financial planning. His expertise spans procurement routes for large and small scale new builds, refurbishments and listed buildings. He’s a proactive thinker who promotes design and technical excellence.

AJ is passionate about thoughtful design that enhances lives and communities. He values HLM’s collaborative culture and commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social value. Living in the Peak District, AJ draws inspiration from the outdoors and believes in creating spaces that support wellbeing and inclusivity. He’s driven by the opportunity to shape environments that positively impact people’s everyday experiences.
