Following 10 years of military service as a Submariner, Stuart came up for air and redirected his career in 2006 to qualify as a Chartered Architect. He demonstrated award-winning capability by earning the ‘Professor’s Award for Urban Design’. From his 12 years in practice, Stuart has gained a wealth of experience across multiple project scales and work stages, leading new-build and refurbishment projects in the Defence, Healthcare, Education, and Residential Sectors.
Stuart has developed into a key member of HLM’s Defence Sector Leadership Team, fusing defence experience and insight with passion for a people-centred design process.
Stuart’s military service, coupled with broad project experience across multiple sectors, scales and project types, offers unique understanding and perspective.

Stuart has successfully completed an English Channel Relay Swim, Cycled to Paris as part of the HLM 50 Charity ride, free-dove to 100ft and made over 20 parachute jumps. His passions outside work include keeping up with his two young boys, Frank (4) and Ronnie (2), reading and cooking weekend breakfasts.
