We’re delighted to have been awarded two accolades at last nights Education Estates Awards held in Manchester. The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) won Project of the Year (Universities) and Trent View College won project of the Year (Colleges).
These awards celebrate our passion for creating places of education that inspire and transform the lives of all ages and abilities.
The Project of the Year universities category recognises new build university projects that have made a difference to the educational or research experience. The National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), a multi-award winning project is an exemplar example of an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise where industry, academia and the public-sector support bodies work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation making Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing and a magnet for investment. Working in collaboration with our client the University of Strathclyde, our team designed an energy carbon neutral facility that provides a high-quality environment that supports healthy working, fosters collaboration and promotes sustainability.
Trent View College was shortlisted for Project of the Year in two categories including Inclusive Design and Colleges. Being named as a finalist in both categories reflects what a fantastic place of education this Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) is. Trent View College provides a place for students to prepare for the transition into the wider world and adult life whilst providing an environment where students can showcase their talents and show the world exactly what they can achieve. The college is the first SEND school designed to Passivhaus standards. The passivhaus design focuses on energy efficiency, thermal comfort and air quality to minimise heat losses from the building and to reuse heat from solar and internal heat gains to reduce the environmental impact of the building.
Claire Wakelin, Director, Head of Education said; “Delighted to receive two awards in what has been an exceptional year for us delivering significant design-focused projects in the education sector. Both the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) and Trent View College demonstrate our expertise in sustainable design and focus on social value outcomes for all our projects. Congratulations to the winners.”
