Karen Mosley has taken the position of Chair of the South Yorkshire Skills Accelerator Board.
The Skills Accelerator initiative incorporates the Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) trailblazers and Strategic Development Fund pilots, with a view to identifying and bridging the skills gaps prevalent for employers.
“South Yorkshire has been selected as one of only eight trailblazers and we see this as a fantastic opportunity to help build the best skills system in the UK.”
The Board are looking to hear from businesses of all sizes about what is stopping or delaying them from growing and advancing their workforce.
This includes the skills pipeline and existing employees. The Skills Accelerator has engaged with research partners Kada Research and Sheffield Hallam University.
The output will be clear and robust recommendations to Government on how they can help South Yorkshire build a truly agile skills system. Backed by a strong, evidence-based report that articulates the needs of employers, supported by key stakeholders with deliverable outcomes.

“The Skills Accelerator is putting business engagement at the heart of the regional skills agenda. We want to play our part in helping transform the way we develop skills in our region. South Yorkshire has been selected as one of only eight trailblazers and we see this as a fantastic opportunity to help build the best skills system in the UK. I urge all employers in our region to attend one of our stakeholder events or complete the online survey.”
