We are pleased to share that Mike Edwards, Senior Architectural Technologist based in our Cardiff studio, has achieved Certified Passivhaus Designer status.

His experience equips him with the skills to design Passivhaus projects – using proven physics, detailing and data to inform design decisions and deliver high-performing buildings.

Mike’s certification brings the total number of in-house Passivhaus Designers at HLM Architects to 11.

He commented:

“All buildings, first and foremost, need to provide a comfortable environment to reside in, as well as being energy efficient in a world where energy resources are increasingly constrained.

The Passivhaus standard meets these important requirements, and becoming a certified consultant provides the technical knowledge in delivering buildings which people want to live, work and play in.”

Having worked in architecture since 1996, Mike has a sound knowledge of producing technical information across various building sectors. He also has extensive knowledge of preparing design proposals using CAD and traditional methods and is experienced in contributing to detailed design processes and coordinating detailed design information. This experience equips him with the skills to design Passivhaus projects – using proven physics, detailing and data to inform design decisions and deliver high-performing buildings.

Upskilling our teams is a key component in realising both individual ambitions, and our wider company objective to design projects that contribute to a sustainable future.

Congratulations, Mike!
