We’re delighted to share that HLM Architects’ design for the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) has been shortlisted in the AJ Architecture Awards 2024 Higher Education category.
In essence, this facility is about creating an open and collaborative environment where knowledge and creativity can be shared.
Now in their seventh year, these awards celebrate the very best in UK architectural design across 16+ categories from housing, health and wellbeing to workplace and cultural projects.
Designed in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde, NMIS is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise where industry, academia and the public-sector support bodies work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation making Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing and a magnet for investment.
Central to the design of this flagship project was creating an open and collaborative environment where knowledge and creativity can be shared. Located at the heart of the new Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), it should act as a catalyst for future development attracting world leading companies and institutions involved at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing.
This project has been widely applauded with numerous award wins to date, including Building Magazine’s Offsite Project of the Year, the Architectural Excellence Award (Public Use) at the Scottish Property Awards and the Scotland Building of the Year at the regional RICS Awards qualifying for the UK RICS awards in October.
The awards take place in London on 3rd December.
