The HLM Emergency Services Team recently attended the opening of Cosham Fire Station, a new state-of-the-art facility for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
“This new building aims to provide the space and facilities to enhance community engagement and improve the environment for staff.”
HLM are proud to have designed Cosham Fire Station, a new state-of-the-art facility for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. This modern three-storey building is designed with operational efficiency and staff rehabilitation in mind, housing staff training facilities including a four-storey training tower, staff gym and rest rooms.
The team’s design provides clear separation between public and operational staff, allowing for a clear post-incident decontamination route, greater access and inclusivity for a diverse workforce.
Replacing the 1950’s existing fire station, our Architectural response is to be an approachable and modern building for the local community. With a nod to traditional fire station design, red cladding is sparingly used and complemented with grey brick to give the building presence and interest.
Head of Emergency Services, Steven Lennon, commented, “HLM are proud to be involved with the design and delivery of Cosham Fire Station. We hope this new building provides the space and facilities to enhance community engagement and improve the environment of staff.”
