Last night, HLM were named the winners in four out of ten categories at the Glasgow Institute of Architects (GIA) awards!

This phenomenal achievement sees HLM win for two categories that weren’t originally entered – the ‘Sustainability’ award and the ‘Supreme’ award.
Lochside House, a small residential project with connection to nature at the forefront of its design, won the ‘Sustainability’, ‘Small Residential’, and ‘Supreme’ awards. The design is a response to the challenging topography and geology of the site, and sits along the natural contours, making the most of its unique natural surroundings and views across the Loch to the mountains beyond.
The Supreme award is a particularly important accolade, as this award isn’t distributed every year, and is “is only awarded when the quality and ambition of the work is truly exceptional and outstanding”.
The James McCune Smith Learning Hub also won the ‘Education’ award, for outstanding contribution to the education sector. Creating a memorable gateway building that sits at the heart of a conservation area, this world-leading learning and teaching facility puts technology, connectivity and accessibility at the heart of the learning experience. The shared learning hub embraces new teaching pedagogies and optimises space utilisation in a highly sustainable BREEAM Excellent facility.
These wins acknowledge the team at HLM’s dedication to progressive, sustainable architecture across different sectors.

The awards celebrate the very best architecture within the GIA Chapter and offer a snapshot into current architectural thinking across typologies.
