Last night, we were delighted to take home two titles at the Building Awards; Architectural Practice of the Year and Offsite Project of the Year for our design of the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).
Winning both of these titles acknowledges our position in delivering sustainable design which is responsive to current challenges.
The coveted title of Architectural Practice of the Year was gratefully received by our team for the second year running. This award considers not only the projects produced, but also responses to market conditions, sustainability, innovation and corporate social responsibility. Entrants also include detail on client and employee satisfaction and wellbeing, and approaches to research and development.

“Congratulations to all nominees, particularly those within the Architectural Practice of the Year category. It is a privilege to accept this award on behalf of our HLM staff and clients. This is the third time that we have received this award in the last 4 years, and is testament to our team’s continued dedication and commitment to creating quality places and architecture”.
With an already impressive collection of accolades, NMIS took the trophy for Offsite Project of the Year. The submission looked at not only why offsite-manufactured components were used, but also how using offsite methods benefited the scheme overall. NMIS’s eye-catching, unique structure is an exemplar piece of architecture which does not conform to the assumptions of offsite/MMC construction.

“The offsite award for NMIS is a real testament to the great work we’re doing to push offsite manufacture across all our projects, using low impact materials to reduce embodied carbon in line with our practice commitments. Congratulations also goes to the wider team, and of course our clients at the University of Strathclyde, who had both the vision and ambition to create this unique, low-carbon building.”
