We are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for 4 awards at this year’s Education Estate Awards in Manchester. Each of the awards highlights our passion for creating places of education that inspire and transform the lives of all ages and abilities.
HLM Architects shortlisted for 4 Education Estates Awards
Awards excitement continues as HLM Architects are named as finalists in 4 Education Estates Awards.
The categories we are shortlisted for are:
- Architectural Practice of the Year
- Project of the Year (Universities) National Manufacturing Institute Scotland & The Wave
- Project of the Year – (Inclusive Design) Trent View College with Morgan Sindall Construction
- Project of the Year – (Colleges) Trent View College with Morgan Sindall Construction
The ‘Architectural Practice of the Year’ award commends an architectural practice who has demonstrated excellence in delivering value and functionality with their projects whilst also promoting best practice in innovation in design in the education sector. We continuously drive innovations that challenge and enhance the way we contribute to ambitious, thriving and supportive educational environments and this is highlighted through the projects we have delivered over the last 18-months, including the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS), The Wave, Trent View College and the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering.
We have also celebrated the opening of three Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools with the Department for Education (DfE) this year. Oak Tree, Pathways and Havering provide exceptional learning environments that improve student experiences through supportive settings, fostering growth, independence and joy.
The Project of the Year universities category recognises new build university projects that have made a difference to the educational or research experience. We have not one, but two projects named as finalists in this award. Both the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland and the Wave have been shortlisted for their inspiring and collaborative learning environments where knowledge and creativity are shared and explored.
Trent View College has been shortlisted for Project of the Year in two categories including Inclusive Design and Colleges. Being named as a finalist in both categories reflects what a fantastic place of education this Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) is. Trent View College provides a place for students to prepare for the transition into the wider world and adult life whilst providing an environment where students can showcase their talents and show the world exactly what they can achieve.
Head of Education Claire Wakelin comments on the variety of shortlisting’s:
“To be shortlisted for 4 categories that reflect our diverse work across the education estates is amazing. Having not one but two of our projects shortlisted for the Project of the Year award in the Universities category highlights the inspiring projects we are delivering in Higher Education. All the nominations are the result of hard work and collaboration both from the team at HLM Architects, our clients and the wider project teams.”
