HLM designed NMIS wins a regional RICS Award 2024

HLM designed National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) has won another major industry award, this time claiming the prize for Public Sector Project of the Year at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Scotland event.

The new, energy carbon neutral facility situated next to Glasgow Airport has been designed to provide a high-quality environment that supports healthy working, fosters collaboration and promotes sustainability.

The RICS Awards showcase the most inspirational initiatives and developments in land, real estate, construction and infrastructure. They recognise outstanding achievement, teamwork and companies. The regional winners from around the UK will go forward to the RICS Awards National Final in October.

NMIS is an industry-led international centre of manufacturing expertise where industry, academia and the public-sector support bodies work together to transform skills, productivity and innovation making Scotland a global leader in advanced manufacturing and a magnet for investment

The new, energy carbon neutral facility based at the new Netherton Campus next to Glasgow Airport has been designed to provide a high-quality environment that supports healthy working, fosters collaboration and promotes sustainability.

NMIS is a partnership between University of Strathclyde, the Advanced Forming Research Centre, High Value Manufacturing Catapult, Skills Development Scotland and Scottish Enterprise

Central to the design of this flagship project was creating an open and collaborative environment where knowledge and creativity can be shared. Located at the heart of the new Advanced Manufacturing Innovation District Scotland (AMIDS), it should act as a catalyst for future development attracting world leading companies and institutions involved at the cutting edge of advanced manufacturing.

The success adds to NMIS’s considerable award-winning record, having already claimed recognition at the regional BCO Awards, the Structural Timber Awards, Building Awards, Herald Scotland Property Awards, Offsite Awards, and the Scottish Property Awards. The project has also been shortlisted for a Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) Award, and two Construction News awards.

The National Awards will be held in London on 4th October.
