On Wednesday, the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS) picked up another award taking it’s overall tally of awards to 14!
“NMIS is a key building for HLM to showcase how DfMA and offsite technologies can help build quality and predictability into our designs and achieve unique, people-centred spaces that are world-class, without taking the environment and our futures for granted.”
At the MMC Awards 2024, held in Birmingham, NMIS was awarded the Championing Carbon Reduction / Net Zero in a Project award.
Having won multiple awards in the past year, NMIS has been recognised this time for driving down low-carbon outcomes at every stage by having a clear strategy from the outset resulting in impressively low embodied and operational carbon metrics. It operates without the use of fossil fuels, and includes infrastructure to maximise onsite renewable energy generation.
The judges recognised that NMIS’s design used 6 of the 7 MMC categories and is an example of pushing the boundaries of offsite construction to achieve unique, world-class facilities.
Anne Daw, Head of MMC Delivery, commented: “NMIS is a key building for HLM to showcase how DfMA and offsite technologies can help build quality and predictability into our designs and achieve unique, people-centred spaces that are world-class, without taking the environment and our futures for granted. NMIS’ net zero in operation and fabric first principles powered by 100% renewable onsite energy is also a reflection of our client’s ambitions and insight into the long-term value of this type of construction. This award win highlights our continued commitment to delivering the highest quality of spaces, enhancing wellbeing and social value for our clients. Brilliant – and well done to the dedication of our design team in the Glasgow studio!”
