On 8th June, HLM were proud to welcome guests to True Loves at Sheffield’s Victoria Quays, to celebrate 40 years of business in the city.
“Not only have we contributed significantly to the architecture and landscape of our city and region but, perhaps of equal importance, to its people and their lives.” – Delia Harmston, Studio Director – Sheffield.
Clients and staff came together in the June sunshine to look back on the last 40 years, and look forward to many more.
Delia Harmston, Studio Director, was joined by Director Chris Liddle, who both made speeches reflecting on the incredible journey that HLM, its clients and partners have shared over the last 40 years.
Chris Liddle commented,
“Looking back, the most exciting and satisfying thing for me is the strong base we have founded together for the future – with the next generation of leadership firmly in place, and the transition to form an Employee Owned Trust, where all our staff are shareholders – such an appropriate position celebrating our ethos and family approach over the years.
I am immensely privileged and proud to still be contributing to that future, and the recognition within the Profession, Architectural Awards and Design Accolades over recent years cements HLM’s position as a leading UK National Architectural practice, and is fitting testimony to both past and future generations – and perhaps most of all that special ethos and family approach
The next generation is everything and we are blessed with a level of talent and commitment second to none.”
Delia said in her speech,
“Not only have we contributed significantly to the architecture and landscape of our city and region but, perhaps of equal importance, to its people and their lives. From the clients and people who use our buildings and spaces we design, to work experience students we’ve supported – many of whom have ended up as employees – to students studying at both our of city’s universities who we’ve tutored, mentored and supported, to staff and their families.
This isn’t just about 40 years of HLM, and we most certainly don’t deliver these projects in isolation. Many of you, our guests, have been alongside us over those 40 years, worked with us as colleagues, partners and clients on those projects over the years – so our success is your success and we couldn’t do it without the collaboration, professionalism, knowledge, skill and fun that you bring to the process.”
Guests enjoyed signature cocktails created especially for the event, along with food, while enjoying a selection of photos collected over the years.
