On Thursday 12th May, we held our 15 year celebrations at Techniquest, the UK’s longest established science centre.

This popular visitor attraction, sitting in the heart of Cardiff Bay, now boasts an impressive 1000sqm of extra exhibition and commercial hire space almost doubling the size and making it more financially viable following close collaboration with our Cardiff Team.

“We’ve had a fantastic 15 years with many highlights and look forward to continuing that journey for many years to come.” – Gareth Woodfin, Studio Director, Cardiff

It was therefore only fitting that the team returned to Techniquest to celebrate with clients and colleagues and reflect on the many local projects that they’ve been involved in over the last 15 years.

Studio Director, Gareth Woodfin, was joined by HLM Chair Richard O’Neil, who both made speeches acknowledging our clients as fundamental to HLM’s success in the region.

Gareth Woodfin said,

“I’m privileged every day to be working with our talented and expanding team on a variety of exciting projects both in Wales and the South West. I’m proud to say I’ve been at HLM from the very beginning and have enjoyed being part of the HLM journey since we first opened our studio in March 2007.

Many of our people here tonight have visited Techniquest on school trips, so to be back here utilising their fantastic new space is very special. We’ve had a fantastic 15 years with many highlights and look forward to continuing that journey for many years to come.”

Richard O’Neil, who was an integral part of the studio’s opening in Cardiff in 2007, said,

“We are proud to be celebrating 15 years of HLM Architects being located in Cardiff. To celebrate with an event at one of our most recent, high-profile completed projects in the region demonstrates how our team has gone from strength to strength, delivering projects across Wales and the South West, that truly enrich and add value to their communities.

Thank you to all of our clients and partners that have supported us in this growth over the years – we are looking forward to seeing what the next 15 years bring.”
