Christopher Liddle headshot

Christopher joined HLM to open the Sheffield studio in 1981, becoming chairman in 1991, moving to group chairman in 2017 after helping establish succession, and he continues to serve as strategic director leading the defence sector and advising the HLM board.

Christopher leads our defence and advises our justice sectors. He is hands-on in many of HLM’s flagship projects both in the UK and internationally, and is a champion of social architecture, and ensuring social value.

His dedication to design excellence carries on outside the practice, and he delivers lectures and seminars in the design of healthcare, justice and defence facilities across the world. He’s also leading the debate on current issues and challenges through HLM thought leadership programmes in HLM’s foresight and innovation group. From Ronnie Scotts in 1970’s, his passion for playing rock and blues music remains a core part of HLM marketing and defence charity fundraising, with annual gigs across the UK.
