‘Health and wellbeing’ has become something of a buzz-phrase in today’s society, with its meaning often diluted through its attribution to any number of ‘wellness’ fads.
This month, Salus Global published an article by Neil Orpwood, Associate Director, following a revisit of Queen’s Centre for Oncology and Haematology, Hull, fifteen years after completion.
The innovative design remains relevant, and is seen as an exemplar of person-centred design for patients and staff. With a focus on wellbeing for the users of the environment, the surrounding landscape and design theme created a unit which feels less ‘clinical’ and more ‘home-from-home’.
Head of Healthcare, Melanie Jacobsen Cox and Associate Director – Landscape Alethea Ottewell joined Neil on the visit, and were delighted to see the project received as positively today as it was back in 2008.
