Duncan is a placemaker, architect and masterplanner with wide-ranging experience of projects across the globe, varying in size and sector from strategic, region-wide masterplanning to detail level design.
He is passionate about building strong communities designed to positively respond to the climate and biodiversity crises – using placemaking to create memorable places that benefit health and wellbeing and create habitat rich landscapes.
For over 15 years, Duncan has led design teams in both residential and commercial sector development. More recently, Duncan has been creating a vision and strategy for South Yorkshire’s innovation district, helping build a world-leading centre of innovation in advanced manufacturing and life sciences. The vision will shape an innovation ecosystem where collaboration and interaction produce new ideas that lead to sustainable and inclusive economic growth providing jobs and training across the region.
Duncan is skilled at generating consensus through collaboration and engagement with clients, planning authorities, stakeholders and the wider community. He has a thorough understanding of how to translate vision into masterplan principles which can be written into design codes and robust planning documents.
