Gina Callaghan

Gina is a qualified architect with over 10 years of experience delivering projects across the education, healthcare, residential and commercial sectors. Since joining HLM in 2022, she has become a key member of the Cardiff studio, contributing to the successful delivery of several education projects across South Wales.

Most notably, Gina played a leading role in the £120 million Fairwater Community Campus, completed in 2026. Bringing together two Additional Learning Needs (ALN) schools and a mainstream secondary school on a single site in west Cardiff, the project required close collaboration between multiple stakeholders and design teams. Joining the project at RIBA Stage 2, Gina led the multidisciplinary team and worked alongside a partner architectural practice to help deliver a cohesive and inclusive campus that meets the needs of its diverse user groups.

Gina has developed a particular expertise in ALN and trauma-informed design, leading a number of specialist education projects.  She combines strong technical knowledge with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and is passionate about creating environments that support wellbeing, inclusion and positive outcomes. Her collaborative approach ensures client and end-user requirements are fully understood and embedded throughout the design process, resulting in high-quality buildings that deliver lasting value for both their users and the wider community.
