Kaori joined HLM’s Cardiff studio in 2024 as a senior chartered landscape architect, bringing over two decades of experience in landscape design in the UK and internationally. After gaining an MA in landscape architecture in the UK, she began her career as a landscape architect in 2003, having originally qualified as an architect in Japan. Her architectural background gives her a holistic understanding of the design process, enabling her to seamlessly integrate buildings and landscapes to create coherent, meaningful places.
Throughout her career, Kaori has worked across a diverse range of sectors, including public realm, major infrastructure, residential development, education, energy and international projects. Combining technical expertise with a thoughtful design approach and a distinctive cultural perspective, she excels at translating complex challenges into well-considered design solutions, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and delivering high-quality landscapes that enhance user experience and sense of place.
