Lorraine started her architectural career studying at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow in 1989. Following graduation, she joined HLM’s Glasgow studio in 1995 and has never looked back.
With a genuine passion for stakeholder engagement, she thrives on converting the ambitions and aspirations of clients into reality, with particular emphasis on the healthcare and education sectors.
Appointed as a director in October 2017 and then operations director in 2024, Lorraine leads by example and mentors the team, sharing her expertise to ensure the success of future leaders.
Lorraine is responsible for the resource across the whole business working with the team to ensure that the right skillsets are allocated to the project to best serve the project and the client.
Not afraid to roll her sleeves up, she won’t ask people to do anything she wouldn’t do herself and is a hands on director. Highly proficient in CAD systems, her input into major projects and client presentation material has paid substantial dividends for HLM.
She is a member of HLM’s healthcare group, a forum where project experiences are shared and best practice researched and discussed.
Lorraine’s experience in the healthcare sector led to the development of successful client and design team relations, not only in Scotland but also through our studio in Northern Ireland.
She strongly believes that often it is the quietest voice a the back of the room who has the best ideas when it comes to the design of great environments and is passionate about finding ways to make sure we provide the right conditions for them to fully engage in the design process.
