As a Director at HLM, Simon leads and grows the practice’s diverse portfolio of commercial work across its regional studios. His cross-sector role spans regeneration, residential, workplace, and hospitality, leisure and culture, reflecting his commitment to creating places where communities’ and people can thrive. Simon works closely with regional directors and discipline leads to champion HLM’s ‘one team’ ethos – curating the right expertise for every project and nurturing the studio’s culture of thoughtful, collaborative design.
Simon joined the HLM group in 2014 to lead its subsidiary business, working alongside HLM colleagues on a range of joint ventures. Following HLM’s transition to an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) in 2021, Simon joined the HLM board of directors, helping to shape the firm’s strategic direction and long-term growth.
With over 20 years of experience at leading London practices, Simon has designed and delivered a wide range of commercial and residential projects across the UK. His experience in crafting innovative, project specific design solutions has secured him a leading role on landmark developments including the Advanced Manufacturing Campus in Derby, Cambridge Assessment Headquarters, and Three Snow Hill in Birmingham. He has also played a guiding role in numerous residential schemes, such as Guildford Park Road, helping to deliver places and buildings that are both engaging and inspiring.
