Our team in Sheffield were delighted to be presented last night with the South Yorkshire Property Award for ‘Design Excellence’, for the design of The Wave, the University of Sheffield’s new home for the Faculty of Social Sciences.

“Thank you to everyone who has been involved in shaping this wonderful building, the first of the University’s estate to be net zero in operation.”

A highly sustainable, collaborative facility, The Wave contributes to the University of Sheffield’s decarbonisation strategy.

It is central to a new mini-campus which also includes publicly accessible landscape features and internal café.

Nick Beecroft, Director, has been involved in the project since 2015, when the University of Sheffield first started to consider the rationalisation of their (social sciences) estate. He commented on the win:

“Working with the University, our fellow consultants and the best team you could have, to create the Wave, has been a career highlight. Not just for the outcome but the journey. We are delighted to get this award; thank you to everyone who has been involved in shaping this wonderful building, the first of the University’s estate to be net zero in operation.”

Organised by Insider Media, the South Yorkshire Property Awards celebrate the outstanding developments and property deals in the region, as well as the real estate funds and advisers that made them a reality.

The Wave was shortlisted in three categories at this year’s awards, demonstrating that the finished project has realised the University’s ambition of being a world-class facility.
